Satsuki Kakeru is left stranded in a world overrun by monsters when the "Red Night" occurs, a phenomenon marked by a red sky and roaming creatures. Alongside his friend Yuka, Kakeru tries to understand why they're there and how to survive the attacks. They soon form an alliance with four others, including Misuzu, an expert swordswoman, and Kukuri, a mute girl who bears an unsettling resemblance to Kakeru's deceased sister.
