Bakumatsu

Takasugi Shinsaku, a soldier from Choshu, and his companion Katsura Kogorou sneak onto a government ship to find the "timepiece," a device capable of manipulating time that the government might exploit. Their goal is to destroy it, but they're thwarted when the timepiece is stolen. Takasugi and Katsura track the thief to Kyoto, only to find the government has been overthrown and the deity Susanoo now holds power.
